Introduction to Vacuum Plumbing - 1 HSW Credit (AIA)/.1 CEU ASPE

➢ Define Vacuum Plumbing & Related Systems
➢ Discuss the Piping Network
➢ Discuss General Benefits
➢ Discuss Benefits for Specific Building Types
➢ Highlight Water Savings & Hygiene

• Vacuum plumbing is a viable option in most high traffic building types
Current projects include healthcare, correctional, multi-family, remote
(state parks), and those where gravity is either not possible or cost
prohibitive
• With COVID-19 now a major issue for public restrooms, the spread of
bacteria/virus in any public/shared restroom has become a design issue
that should be addressed
• Sustainability is also inherent in the system – 80-90% water savings on
flushes
• Any LEED or green buildings would greatly benefit from a vacuum system
• Remodeling projects can benefit greatly due to the piping network and
Sequencing flexibility

All this information will be covered in more detail during the presentation, and open
discussion is encouraged as well.
